Hi All,
I am looking for advice on ow I can get into project management as a career. Some of the work I currently do is project based and I really enjoy it and is for this reason that I am keen to move into project management.
I have applied for a few pm roles but most of the feedback I get is that I dont have enough experience. I am prince2 practitioner certified and have experience of scrum. I have also completed my six sigma green belt training. I am happy to work my way up, but there doesnt seem to be too many junior or assistant roles available. Is there another avenue that I could try or any other suggestions.

It is an interesting subject - Prince2 certified and yet opportunities do not open up for Project Managers applying for new PM positions. A certificate does not necessarily open doors it is the industry descipline experience that organisations are looking for, e.g. Software Development; Infrastructure; Web design; Mobile communications; Banking etc - Prince2 for example is just merely the governance, the framework, the methodology applied for delivering projects. Being certified does not make the best Project Manager I hesitate to say, down to experience.
With the credit crunch and with recession organisations looking to fill jobs have become very very specific and 'must have' approach is now used with a job responsibilities that in the past it would require at least two people to do - not any more, the expectations due to the market situation is far more demanding after all they have some probably 500 C.V's for one job opening the poor applicant is competing with so many others unemployment will remain high for a few years to come.
My understanding as a Project Manager for many years is that a Project Manager does not have to be 'subject expert', the governance, framework to drive forward and deliver projects utilising soft skills can deliver any type of project, well not anymore, organisations have too many applications, the world is their oyester !
