Can anyone give me an axample of how you would scale the Product Breakdown Structure say from a Project Plan to a Stage Plan.

I like the concept, but on large projects I have been spreading the PBS for a stage over multiple layers and I am not sure if I should be doing this.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I think PBS is not related to Stage plan or Project Plan.

In stage plan, it is the Work Packages. WP and Products are different. Products are, IMHO, a manageable part of the final product.

For a programme, the Programme Manager, does not make any sense if he/she is to manage a product of a Project. The rule of thumb is "manageable". PRINCE2 is the methodology.... to help PM to manage the project.

Work Package, for typical project, should be specified by the Team Manager(s). The reasons behind is we do not expect everybody in the project is PRINCE2 professional, and sometimes we may outsource part of the project. Thus the way the team (outsider or not) produces the Work Package needs not to be PRINCE2 compliance.

Similarly it may not be made sense the PM should look closely into the Work Packages but the Products.
