hi all,
I am studying project management at postgraduate degree level. can some body point out the good and bad aspects of prince2 methodology as the process or method itself.

I will really appreciate your precious response as it will help me understand the theme of the methodology.

Thank you.

Hi akhtarkhan97

The Prince2 model is tailored so that a project board can manage by exception, and the PM can escalate any issues throughout the project life cycle. In Theory it seems very conclusive and through various control mechanisms can aid in running successful projects. However, the real word is far more dynamic and I think Prince2 puts a bit too much emphasis on "by following the process and reporting structures, the project will be successful"

All in all I think it is one of the better Project management courses out there, however, applying it in the real world may prove to be a bit tricky if you are not working for a company designed and adapted around the Prince2 structure.

My advice would be to finish your current studies and then get a job in a project coordination role, and then study Prince2. This way you can tailor the method to suit your particular style of managing projects

Hope this helps

JK
