Although I've been familiar with Prince2, and registered for just over a year, I've never really managed a 'formal' project. Hence my question. I'm applying for a project management position at work and part of the recruitment means I have to present on the following:

Quote:
What approach would you take in presenting a business case to the Executive Board to secure funding at any stage during the project life cycle?

Other than reiterating the benefits of continuing, (or the pitfalls of not doing so), I'm stuck for ideas! Any thoughts? All comments gratefully accepted!

Hi,

They are asking how you would intend on giving structure to your Exec Presentation so that you get the facts across;

During a presentation to Execs you need to keep it simple, as they may not be technical and probably would not be interested or have time to sit through the technical details of a project.

Exec?s want to know why are we doing this and how much does it cost?

So off the top of my head the approach I would take would be:

I would keep it simple and just give the basic info:

- Why we are doing this work?
- What are the benefits (financial, morale, environment, media, heart and minds etc?)
- How long it will take before we start noticing benefits?
- What are the risks of doing this or not doing this work?
- Benefits vs Cost
- Overall Timescales
- How much it will cost?

I will dig through some old doc to see if I have a presentation,

Iain
