Hi,

I've been considering doing the Prince certification but a friend has mentioned that the theories of project management on which Prince and the PMI PMBOK etc are now considered very out of date and irrelevant since they dont improve project management practice.

Does anyone have any info/views on this or any suggestions for alternative types of training or books to read?

Thanks

Dave

I will like to know why he/she said so ... mayebe could you ask him what kind of new improvement and/or irrelevant matters in project management has been identified that both PRINCE2 and PMBok do not ID yet?

Thanks.

I think he was putting forward the view that Prince is out of date because it is not really relevant to organisational change and IT projects since it is based on an "enginerring" type approach

Prince2 is very relevant as most company?s like you to adhere to its methodology even I it?s only partially depending on project size.

I have just got a new job and I found that Prince2 was a pre-requisite when applying for a project management job in IT.

I also have MSP and I found that this was a great advantage.
